Brookfield Heritage Commission

The Brookfield Heritage Commission was created by warrant article passed at Town Meeting on 10 March 2009. The enabling legislation, RSA 674:44a reads as follows:
“A heritage commission may be established in accordance with RSA 673 for the proper recognition, use and protection of resources, tangible or intangible, primarily man-made, that are valued for historic, cultural, aesthetic, or community significance within their natural, built or cultural contexts.”
A Heritage Commission basically does for historical and cultural resources what the Conservation Commission does for natural resources:
The Brookfield Heritage Commission can also accept and expend funds for a non-lapsing Heritage Fund, acquire and manage property, and hold preservation easements.
The first Commissioners are five in all:
